Mass Cleaning Drive Commemorated by BMC to Promote Sanitation and Greenery in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, 9th July 2023 – Today, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) organized a grand mass cleanliness program at Jaganatha Ashram front, Tankapani Road, starting at 7 o’clock in the morning. Led by the Hon’ble Mayor, Smt. Sulochana Das, the event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of several esteemed dignitaries, including Deputy Mayor Manjulata Kanhara, Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange, Chairman of Sanitation Standing Committee Biranchi Narayana Mahasupakara, Corporators Namita Mahapatra, Minushree Khuntia, Ajit Behera, Additional Commissioner Laxmikanta Sethi, Subhendu Kumar Sahu, and Zonal Deputy Commissioner Priyabrata Padhi, among others.The event also saw the active involvement of self-help groups, local SHG groups, and citizens of Bhubaneswar, who joined hands in the mass cleaning initiative and collectively raised awareness about the importance of cleanliness.

BMC has been focusing on two crucial aspects, namely sanitation and greenery, and the mass cleaning drive was a testament to this commitment. In addition to promoting cleanliness, the corporation is actively engaged in scientific waste management practices. As part of this effort, BMC has initiated door-to-door waste collection and launched a segregation awareness campaign. Each citizen is encouraged to maintain two separate dustbins and deposit waste accordingly, while refraining from littering outside. To create awareness about this crucial initiative, BMC has launched a comprehensive awareness campaign alongside the mass cleanliness program.Mayor Smt. Sulochana Das appealed to the citizens of Bhubaneswar to actively participate in waste segregation by utilizing separate dustbins for different types of waste. By adopting these simple yet impactful practices, the city can collectively contribute to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.Furthermore, Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange urged citizens to follow the dengue prevention guidelines set forth by BMC. With the aim of preventing dengue outbreaks, the corporation has implemented a series of preventive measures and advised the public to stay informed and take necessary precautions.The successful mass cleanliness drive organized by BMC not only showcased the commitment of the corporation towards a cleaner and greener Bhubaneswar but also served as a platform to inspire individuals, communities, and organizations to actively participate in cleanliness initiatives.
