WORLD NATURE CONSERVATION DAY
Bhubaneswar:27.07 Regional Science Centre, Bhubaneswar is one of the constituent units of
National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of culture, Govt. of
India. The main objective of the council is to popularise science among the
people at large and students in particular. The council achieves the objectives
through its Mobile Science Exhibitions, Science Demonstrations, S&T based
galleries, Training and Workshops, etc.
World Nature Conservation Day is celebrated on 28 th July with an objective to
raise awareness to preserve the environment from natural resources to plant
and animal species, soil, water, air. Due to continuous depletion of these
natural resources and increased human intervention resulted in ecological
imbalance which is visible in the form of severe floods, global warming,
drought, landslide etc. In order to sensitize and create interest to have a
habitable planet , Regional Science Centre, Bhubaneswar is going to organize
several interesting programmes i.e. An Interactive talk on “Forests and
Livelihoods: Sustaining People and Planet”, by Sh. Ajay Jena, IFS, Conservator
of Forest (Retd.), Govt. of Odisha, and Plant Pot painting contest for school
students . The programme aims to allow individual participation so as to get
familiar and learn the need for preserving a healthy environment.
