ICICI Lombard compelled to give Claim amount to Bhuban’s Poor Farmer
after direction of Hon’ble High Court
on a case filed by Er Debashisha Hota.
[7/22, 14:50] Santosh Panda: Bhuban (21/7) – ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Limited compelled to give Claim amount to Bhuban’s Poor Farmer Bauri Behera after direction of Hon’ble High Court of Odisha on a case filed by High Court Advocate Er Debashisha Hota.
Here noteworthy that, Sri Behera’s bike was stolen on 5th December 2020. Immediately he Complained at Kaliapani Police Station and Bhuban’s TVS Show-Room. Then he Claimed his Insurance Money at ICICI Lombard Company by depositing all needed documents.
ICICI Lombard rejected Claim of Sri Behera. Therefore he approached Er Hota, who filed a Case at Hon’ble High Court.
Hon’ble Justice Biswanath Rath listened the arguments. on 17th April 2023. Er Hota put forth his strong arguments very effectively before the court to give justice to this poor Farmer.
[7/22, 14:50] Santosh Panda: After hearing the case, the court directs to look into the grievance of Sri Behera regarding his Theft Claim and take decision as appropriate within 3 Months.
After Court’s direction ICICI Lombard requested Sri Behera to deposit all needed documents again. Sri Behera deposited all the documents on 4th July 2023. Then only ICICI Lombard compelled to give Claim amount to Sri Behera by which the poor farmer became happy.During purchase of vehicles, show room owners are taking heavy amounts from their clients as Insurance Premiums due to nexus with Insurance companies. But, Insurance companies are normally making trouble for these clients during Theft or Accident Claim settlements. Since, Theft or Accident Claim amounts are very small for bikes; hence bike owners never prefer to file cases at Hon’ble High Court. Therefore show room owners and Insurance companies incurred much more profits at the cost of poor customers. Whereas Er Hota could deliver justice to a poor farmer by filing a case only by taking the expense, this is now a point of discussion at Bhuban.
