BMC Strengthens Foundation in Review Meeting for a Beautiful Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, 12.7.23 – Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) held a review meeting today at Ekamra Hall to discuss strategies for beautifying Bhubaneswar and strengthen the city’s foundation. Hon’ble Mayor Smt. Sulochana Das expressed gratitude to all the corporators, Commissioner, additional commissioners, deputy commissioners, officers, and staff members for their diligent implementation of government schemes.The meeting focused on various key topics, including the ongoing Swachh Sarvekshan campaign. Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange emphasized the importance of citizen participation in Swachh Sarvekshan by scanning QR codes and urged ward officers to encourage more citizens to actively participate in the campaign. Deputy Commissioner Manoranjan Sahu provided valuable information to the corporators regarding this topic.BMC expressed gratitude to the state government for providing 145 crore for the city’s development. Discussions were held on beautification projects, landscaping, road improvements, and the development of cremation grounds using the allocated funds. Mayor Sulochana Das highlighted the need to strengthen sanitation facilities in Bhubaneswar. Under the MUKTA scheme, collective and community toilets are being constructed in crowded areas of the city, with work ongoing except in three locations due to complaints from the National Highway Authority. Additional Commissioner Subhendu Sahu assured that the remaining toilet work would be completed soon. Significant roadworks have been undertaken by BMC in the current fiscal year, with many already completed and ready for inauguration. The remaining roadworks and construction of main and internal drains are progressing steadily, with completion expected in the near future. BMC is also planning to create vending zones in Bhubaneswar, with work on some areas at the final stage and corporators tasked with identifying suitable lands for further development. Immediate action has been ordered to address the issue of non-functional street lights in BMC’s jurisdiction. The agency responsible for the project will closely monitor the progress and ensure prompt restoration of street lights as needed. Additionally, BMC has initiated plans to renovate all the crematoriums in Bhubaneswar.The meeting saw the presence of Mayor Sulochana Das, Deputy Mayor Manjulata Kanhara, corporators, Commissioner, additional commissioners, deputy commissioners, officers, and staff members.
